DENTAL PREVENTION AND TREATMENT

Cavities are a contagious disease, meaning you can be infected and spread it. To avoid this,

and a number of other complications require timely diagnosis and treatment. Thanks to modern achievements of science and technology, caries can be detected and stopped at an early stage, before it has reached a significant destruction of the tooth structure. The carious process is stopped by means of various remineralizing agents. If the process has led to the destruction of the tooth, the modern minimally invasive approach allows for maximum sparing of hard tissues.

Prevention is also essential, adequately carried out from early childhood.

Flossing:
The secret to good oral health

Flossing needs to be done regularly because the brush cannot reach:

- the interdental spaces - this is where caries most often develops

- the subgingival pocket - this is where gum inflammation begins

Brushing and then flossing thoroughly removes plaque, the sticky deposits that build up and later calcify to form tartar. Plaque left to develop in these delicate areas has caused :
- tooth decay - gingivitis - periodontitis - bad breath

To be effective, you need to learn the correct way to floss (floss technique). For this purpose, it is best to contact your dentist, who will show you the most correct method. There are different types of floss that you can find in pharmacies and stores. The floss can be: waxed, unwaxed, flavored, unflavored, on a roll, floss for bridges and braces. Waxed floss is suitable when you are starting to learn how to floss, because it glides more easily. This way, you can better master the technique without getting frustrated and traumatizing the gums and this will make you give up on using floss. Flavored floss leaves a fresh taste in your mouth and is especially suitable when you do not have the opportunity to brush your teeth.

If, despite your efforts, you cannot get used to it or if you have a limitation in opening your mouth, try a floss holder or interdental brushes.

1. Tear off a piece of thread about 40 cm long and wrap it lightly around your middle fingers.

4. Gently slide the floss up and down the surface of both teeth, entering the gum area. Pull the floss down.

In this way, clean all the interdental spaces, entering each space with a clean part of the floss. If there are places where you cannot enter or the floss breaks, it may be due to inaccurate fillings or crowns. Consult your dentist and eliminate the problem so that you can clean effectively everywhere. Now you know the techniques and understand the need to use floss; you have a large selection of different types of floss and additional means for cleaning the interdental spaces and subgingival pockets. Not cleaning every day is ineffective. Plaque accumulates continuously – 24 hours after a perfect cleaning, plaque has already accumulated. To be effective, cleaning must be done daily. - Misunderstanding that flossing is only for removing food debris such as meat between teeth. The main function of floss is to remove the invisible film of bacteria that forms continuously between teeth and in the subgingival pocket and is called plaque. Flossing should clean between all teeth.
